I. Facial Reconstruction After Tumor Removal
This is our initial and pilot application, but our technology has a wide range of applications. Facial reconstructions after tumor removal will be our initial target with our first product release in mid-2025. This will be the concept demonstrator for validation of our approach. Step by step we will add applications to our web platform, such as Jaw Augmentations, Osteotomies in Extremities and Orthognathic Surgeries.
Image Segmentation
Medical image segmentation is the process of transferring volumetric data (e.g. from computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging) to a geometric representation of surfaces of anatomical structures that can be used for subsequent operation planning. Especially the processing of imaging data of the bones of the facial region is challenging, as typically a large amount of artifacts, caused by metal inlays is spoiling the imaging data and thus makes manual segmentation cumbersome and time consuming.
Inzipio’s solution is the use of artificial intelligence in its implementation as convolutional neural networks to allow for an automated and reproducible extraction of the indiviudal bone geometries even in challenging sets of data.
